If there's a sports name that is synonymous with Brooklin, it would be Vipond.

A drive down Winchester Road helps reveal that quickly enough, as the Luther Vipond Memorial Arena stands as the most prominent building in the village's sporting landscape.

It's aptly named after a man who was devoted to sports in Brooklin, especially hockey and lacrosse.

That same name will now forever be enshrined in the Whitby Sports Hall of Fame ....
